Dr. Chuck Williams

A fresh voice is in The Big Talker 1210 house, and his name is Dr. Chuck Williams. Chuck brings his community activism, energy, and left-of-center views to Saturday mornings 5 to 8 a.m. with co-host Rick Grimaldi.

Chuck’s got local cred: East Falls-born and bred, a product of Philly’s public schools, and a Temple grad. Already armed with a dual master’s degree from MCP-Hahnemann University, Chuck recently picked up a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Temple University.

Chuck’s all about community: As a Temple student, he was active in the local chapters of the NAACP and ACLU. He created the Books Not Guns campaign and worked in the Mayor’s Office of Drug Control Policy.          In 2001, Dr. Williams became a founder of the Bill Cosby “Academic Posse” program, which encourages city youth to choose college. Dr. Williams has received a City Council Citation and two Mayoral Citations for his dedication and commitment to helping others.

There’s more…

Dr. Williams has served on the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on Children’s Behavioral Health and moderates the “Save the Children Summit,” featuring Bill Cosby. Dr. Williams is a lecturer at Penn State University’s School of Graduate Professional Studies, and a member of the American Psychological Association.

You might already know Chuck: He’s been written up in the Daily News, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and the Philadelphia Tribune; he also had some “face-time” on Fox 29, NBC 10, CBS, 6 ABC, and WB 17 news.

Chuck lives in the University City section of Philadelphia.
