Former Phillies legend Mitch “Wild Thing” Williams will host THE WILD PITCH WITH MITCH WILLIAMS prior to Philadelphia Phillies regular and post season broadcasts Mondays through Thursdays.
During Phillies home games, Williams will broadcast live from Citizen’s Bank Park beginning 60 minutes before the start of the game. THE WILD PITCH WITH MITCH WILLIAMS will consist of in-depth analysis of the previous games played and a look ahead to the game to come. Williams will take calls from listeners and give his honest opinions on the game and the team.
“The choice of Mitch to host our pre-game show was easy,” said Marc Rayfield, Vice President and General Manager of The Big Talker 1210 AM-WPHT. “He’s quick witted and unapologetically honest – exactly what Philadelphians expect from the people who cover the local teams.”
“I am thrilled to have this opportunity,” said Williams. “This team is poised for great things. I look forward to breaking down the games and having some fun with callers every night.”
Williams is perhaps the most well known pitcher in Phillies history. "Wild Thing," as he came to be known, threw the infamous home run pitch to the Blue Jays’ Joe Carter which won the World Series for Toronto in 1993, the last time the Phillies appeared in the fall classic. Williams took that notoriety and turned it into a career as a baseball analyst, authority and commentator that Phillies fans have come to love.
