Born November 18th, 1980 in Hopewell, Virginia. Gunners Mate First Class (GM1) John P. Sheehan enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard after graduating high school in July of 1999, having two older brothers on active duty with the USCG. GM1 John Sheehan is a proven frontline warrior who significantly contributed to the Global War on Terror earning the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. During his tour in Operation Iraqi Freedom, he displayed superb technical expertise and professionalism by conducting mission critical maintenance on numerous weapon systems to include the Mk 38 25 mm machine gun for shipboard weapons systems to both Coast Guard and Navy ships. Ensuring that they were 100 percent mission capable for their every patrol in the North Arabian Gulf. Also he was a member of the unit’s explosive program and force protection training team, conducting training for and with U. S. Coast Guard and U. S. Navy personnel. He is now assigned to Sector Delaware Bay, Philadelphia as the Armory Supervisor.

Hero Kids Summer Camp: In an effort to provide a network of support and friendship for boys and girls of military families during this difficult time, the USO of Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey (Liberty USO) has partnered with Pennsylvania National Guard to form the Hero Kids Summer Camp from June 17 -22. Last summer, 108 campers, ages 8-12,spent the week at Camp Kenbrook near Lebanon, Pa. to share their feelings and be uplifted with fun activities such as hiking, archery, arts and crafts, and various team-building and skill-building games.
